So I’ve been a resident of Helena-West Helena since I was about 11 years old. Growing up here I developed an extremely negative view of my community. In fact, one of my life long goals growing up was straightforwardly and without elaboration, “to get out of Helena-West Helena”. I ended up poorly planning my escape by running off to a very expensive art school in Dallas where I managed to nail down my degree in Fashion Design and some valuable life lessons to build on. Perhaps the most important of these things I obtained was a genuine love and appreciation for my city. After all, home is where the heart is.
